Hello again, it’s been awhile. About a year ago I posted a personal announcement in which I explained a transition in my job. Instead of marketing energy software, I would head into the people business through human resources and coaching. I wanted to help people grow and to show them their value. This seemed to be the next chapter in my story.
So this is what I’ve been doing for the past year, and I’ve got to tell you—I love it. I created an employee success program for EnergyCAP, Inc. and have been rolling it out. It helps our employees to understand how they’re wired and gives them clarity on what’s expected of them. When you connect the two, it’s beautiful!
I’ve also done a little public speaking and finished my coach training, and I’m now a Certified Professional Life Coach.
But enough about the past. Let’s talk about the now. It’s thrilling, and rolling in with heavy heat.
As I’ve learned from the people business, big and special things happen when you connect who you are to what you’re meant to do. I’ve seen it firsthand, this mix of purpose and joy. Meaning gets stirred up in your everyday duties and suddenly your task list becomes your date with destiny. You are not your work, but your work can be your way to live out who you are. The world needs your inspired contributions.
For this reason, I’m going to be writing again.
This blog will be about finding purpose and joy at work, whatever your work is.
I want to help you envision what you haven’t envisioned before and take risks through gutsy action steps. I want to help you put away aimlessness and confusion and the sense of wasting yourself on things that don’t matter. I want to help you purge regret from your vocabulary. In short, I want to help you come alive.
Would that be okay?
Deep down, or even closer to the surface, we all want to do work that matters, whether it’s in an office, at home, in a church, on the road, or another place. We want to know there’s meaning there, a point to our labors.
We also want to enjoy our work. We want to smile from our gut, not in spurts and snorts, but in steady streams like sunshine. We want to be able to say we had fun during our working years.
Listen, your joy may be just around the corner, trapped in a faulty mindset or unused talent, waiting to tap dance around the place. Do tap away! Your joy may be restrained by unclear expectations or stagnant complacency, waiting to holla back. Do holla back!
So how can you find purpose and joy at work? That’s what this blog is about. I’ll share some of the things I’m learning from the people business. We’ll cover topics like strengths, engagement, coaching, expectations, growth and more, on our way to mixing up destiny. We’ll give you clear insights and tangible action steps that have feet and heart. I tell you, the world needs your inspired contributions.
It’s so good to be with you again. Thank you for reading what I write.
To purpose and joy and a mix of destiny!
